Jim Rugg (born February 1, 1977) is an American cartoonist and illustrator from Pittsburgh known for his tongue-in-cheek evocation of 1970s-era comics and pop culture. His graphic novels and comics collections include Street Angel, Afrodisiac, The P.L.A.I.N. Janes and Janes in Love, One Model Nation, and The Guild. Rugg’s influences include Frank Miller, Erik Larsen, David Lapham, Jack Kirby, David Mazzuchelli, Mike Mignola, the Hernandez brothers, Robert Crumb, Dan Clowes, Chris Ware, and Julie Doucet.
Jim Rugg worked for  include Marvel Entertainment, DC Comics, New York magazine, VH1, McSweeney’s, Smirnoff, Converse, and Capcom. His work has been recognized and honored by the Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, American Illustration, Print magazine, AIGA 50/50, Eisners, Ignatz, Glyphs, Best American Comics series, and the Library of Congress’ National Archives.
Rugg has also produced short comics for VH1, New York magazine, True Porn, Meathaus, Cinema Sewer, Strange Tales, the SPX Annual, Project: Superior, Dark Horse Presents, and the Next Issue Project.

He also co-hosts the podcast, Tell Me Something I Don’t Know on Boing Boing.
His latest print project, SUPERMAG (Adhouse Books), hits streets in May 2013 and showcases his interests in genre, irreverent humor, graphic design, drawing, and typography. SUPERMAG features new work as well as collecting the best of his recent anthology contributions.
