PFC #6 : second step for the Loop exercice.

Since yesterday, the second step of  the Loop is on. Each one has to produce 3 pages connecting the previous propositions from 2 others authors.

PFC #6 : Le Grand Jeu …

A funny yet cosy place…

“CHARENTAISES” (typical french sleepers) to keep us warm!!

Tunlaya’s birthday….

The Loop, step 1

The first step is done…

Each author chose at least 1 character, 1 setting and 1 object among the elements selected before to create a short story in 4 pictures.

Meanwhile in Angoulême, Nicolas Verstappen’s workshop at the EESI…

Meanwhile in Angoulême Nicolas Verstappen runs a workshop at the EESI (European Image School). 20 international students are experimenting several exercices from OubaPo, Nick Sousanis’ “Grids and Gestures” experiment or 60′ comics. It rocks!

During the week, there will be several shared moment between the PFC#6 authors and the awesome team of students there : Adèle Mesones et Margaux Peron (EESI, Angoulême, France) ; Nicharee Sawartsoot et Sasi Tanyanurak (Chulalongkorn, Bangkok, Thailand) ; Quentin Bohuon et Irina Lisacheva (HEAR, Strasbourg, France) ; Dragana Radanović, Dido Drachman et Eva Lynen (LUCA, Bruxelles, Belgique) ; Nina Six et Léo Gillet (ERG, Bruxelles, Belgique) ; Ulrike Marais et Neeske Alexander (University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, South Africa) ; Elísabet Rún Þorsteinsdóttir et Björn Heimir Önundarson (School of Visual Art, Reykjavík, Iceland) ; Tommi Ollikainen, Terhi Adler et Juliana Hyrri (Aalto University, Aalto, Finland) ; Théo Remmlinger et Félix Ernoult (HEAD, Genève, Suisse).

Characters, objects and settings

Everyone has randomly chosen and then drawn a character, an object, and a setting. After that and among all these drawings, the group voted those that would finally be used for the Loop’s story.

Everyone draws what has been randomly picked

Three-legs girl with a butcher apron by Delphine (character proposed by Benoit?)

“the ex-lover of a world famous rock collector – loses their watch constantly” by Yannis (character proposed by Keren)

PFC #6 : First collaborative exercises

Everyone’s got his/her favorite tools on the table… in few minutes the first “Loop” exercice starts showing on the walls…

Laura, Tara, Jessica, Jul, Noah and Yvan.

Anders, Tunlaya, Keren and Benoit.

First morning!!

Everyboby finds easily his own place, after a good night sleep and a nice breakfast (despite the jetlag). It’s time to explain the rules established by June, J-C Menu and Anders Nilsen during the last editions and reworked a little since (we’ll get back to this later… ).

Benoit, Yannis and Simon

Laura and the dog

(Who’s a goood boooy?!!… For authors’ emotional comfort: a dog and two cats are also bringing their full support to the team during this narrative quest.)

PFC #6 at the “Grand Jeu”, IT IS ON!

The 6th edition is ready to begin, almost every author arrived today at the “Grand Jeu” (the “big game”), our amazing residency place in Angoulême’s countryside.

“Le Grand Jeu” (“The Big game”), our atypical, cosy residency spot under the beautiful blue sky.

The work space, sunny, well organized… waiting…

Since monday night, the team, progressively builds itself. (Sailor sweaters are pretty fashionable here, as you can see…)

Near the fire place… (even better than home!)

“Indie Americans” in Toulouse, FR ; with Melissa Mendes, Charles Forsman and Noah Van Sciver

Our friends from the Brussels editorial structure L’Employé du Moi are moving part of the beautiful exhibition they proposed on the occasion of Cultures Maison.
A portion of “Indie Americans” will therefore be coming to Toulouse: from Tuesday, the original plates of Melissa Mendes, Noah Van Sciver and Charles Forsman will be on display at the Ombres Blanches Bookstore and at Café L’Impro. A devernissage/dedication will take place on Tuesday 29 January 2019 in Toulouse, to close this chapter celebrating Franco-American-Belgian friendship.  🙂
If you don’t have the opportunity to meet Noah in Angouleme (he is invited to Pierre Feuille Ciseaux #6, as a reminder), it will be time to do so!

Pierre Feuille Ciseaux #6 – 2019, Angoulême International Comics Festival.

Hip hip hooray! Once again and this time at the invitation of the Angoulême International Comics Festival , the great meeting of collective creation orchestrated by the ChiFouMi association will take place on the occasion of its next edition this coming January. As a small associative project born a little less than 10 years ago, we are very proud to take part in such a prestigious institution.

That new Pierre Feuille Ciseaux edition will be held right before the festival: For a whole week, 16 creators are bound to explore the gigantic territory of contemporary comics. Whether known or less known, coming from Germany, Belgium, France, Israel, Switzerland, Thailand, the USA, their own approach of what comics can be has made us want to invite them to work and to experiment together in a place right next to Angoulême, where we are convinced emulation will materialize.

PFC6 - visuel principal

On the agenda, our usual chifoumistic propositions: Collective creation, deconstructed narration, creation under constraints, lots of graphic experimentations… Numerous and simultaneous workshops will give us the opportunity to produce various printed objects that will be shown to the public at the time of restitution. Everything made by the invited artists will be highlighted and displayed during the festival throughout several public events (exhibitions, gatherings, lectures, concerts, workshops among many other things) to be mentioned very soon.

Since we will find ourselves in Charente already, it seemed a pity not to continue our educational action, which is already reflected in each of the previous editions of PFC. In collaboration with École Européenne Supérieure de l’Image d’Angoulême, we thought it would be perfectly adequate to put forward an international workshop for some twenty students from schools all over the world (South Africa, Belgium, Finland, United States, France, Iceland, Switzerland, Thailand,…) who would follow a set of collective work proposals under constraints specially concocted by our long-time collaborator, Nicolas Verstappen. Professor and theorist at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok (Thailand), Nicolas will allow participants to meet and work with the artists in residence. Again, we will have the opportunity to get back to this in details…

All this will be discussed both on this site and on social networks in real time, where we will try to share as precisely as possible the outcomes of this new experiment.

Here is the list of guest residents for this 6th Pierre Feuille Ciseaux edition :
Tara Booth (USA)
Tuna Dunn (Thailand)
Jul Gordon (Germany)
Anna Haifisch (Germany)
Keren Katz (Israël)
