Juliana Hyrri (b. 1989) is a visual artist living in Helsinki who mainly works in the fields of drawing, painting and prose.
In her recent work Hyrri has been interested in moments of revelation that make the world look different. For Hyrri art is an exploration; she is inspired by secrets, diaries, map services and old photographs.
Often, Hyrri’s forms of expression are combined in sequential art; her comic novel debute
Satakieli joka ei laulanut (en. The Nightingale that Never Sang) was published by Suuri Kurpitsa in March 2019 and was granted a merit in the Professional Show of 3×3 Illustration Annual No.16.
She has participated in several comic anthologies in Finland and Russia and was granted first and second prizes in the Oulu’s Nordic Comics Competition in 2017 and 2018.
