After a short time where he built stage sets in theatres and for circus, Benoît Preteseille (alongside the author Wandrille) created the independant publishing house Warum. A bit later, he created ION, his own inprint, at first his publishing tool for this own endeavors in the narrative and graphic medium, then dedicated to what he considered drawings that needed to be shown.

Benoît Preteseille is doing his own thing since the very beginning, creating some very personnal universe that looks like nothing else, but which is highly influenced by the intense creativity that showed off in the artistic and literature frenchs circles during the early XXe century. Dada, automatic writing, surrealism : it looks like pretty decents sources of inspiration, amongst Fantomas, Erik Satie, Arsène Lupin or Boris Vian.
When he’s not drawing or publishing real nice books that deserves more than an eye or two, he’s also a singer/musician/performer that travels the world with his duo Savon Tranchand : the uncanny Benoît Tranchand, that you really wanna see play live !
